Come Black Friday, the world seems to unite in an insidious chorus of ‘hurry, don’t miss it, don’t miss out’. If we’re not careful we can fall for the lie that we, or our lives as they are, are not enough.

We stand firmly against any voice that tells you that you are not enough, or that your life, for whatever reason, is not precious. It was this stance that inspired our Slow Kit. This considered edit of artisan made goodies is designed to help you slow down, to reinforce rhythms of rest and self-compassion and to remind you that you are, without a doubt, enough just as you are.

As the lid of our Slow Kit says: “Go slow, no need to hurry, you’re already enough.”

We carefully chose our Winter ‘24 Refillable Candle (scented with Country Hedgerows and First Frosts) to be the star of this luxurious gift box. Why? Because it invites you to connect with the season at hand, to appreciate and soak up the beauty and restful pace of Winter and, in doing so, to resist the stress and hurry that threaten to trap us. We’ve then also included a Pillar Refill (essentially, a second candle) in our Celebrate scent (Elderflower, Gardenia, Sweet Pea & Geranium). Why? To celebrate with wild abandon who you are, today, no improvements necessary. We’ve then tucked in a few colouring pencils and some colouring sheets to encourage you to take a creative moment or two away from your screen. You’ll also find a selection of our favourite herbal teas, the perfect thing to sip while daydreaming with a candle lit beside you. 

We've also included a spare 'go slow' sticker for you (printed on eco friendly, plastic-free stickers). Use it as a reminder for yourself, or gift it to a loved one. 

This Slow Kit is for the rebels. For the resilient few who stand with us determined to thrive through Winter, with days filled with rest, creativity and wonder. Those who will dare to accept that they’re enough, just as they are.

How to refill your candle

Once your GHFS candle is empty, simply order a Pillar Refill in the next scent you'd like to explore and drop it into your empty candle pot.

Hand poured in Wales

We make our candles in small batches here on our Welsh farm. Each one is made with essential and botanical oils and hand-poured with care using our eco-friendly, plant-based wax.

Artisan made pot

We work exclusively with independent, artisan makers across the UK. Our timeless candles come in keepsake, handmade ceramic pots. Our pioneering candle refills mean you can refill our candle pots again and again, making it a pot for life.

Delivery and returns

Delivery:

Free 2nd Class shipping on orders £40 or above.
Standard delivery is £2 on all orders under £40.
1st Class shipping is £3.75.
Express (1 working day from dispatch) shipping £9.99.
We send all of our parcels, whether standard or express, via Royal Mail.

Returns:

If your candle (or anything else, for that matter) isn’t quite right, we will of course take it back and refund you the full amount.

Do make sure the item is in its original condition - we can’t accept candles that have been lit, or matches that have been struck - unless the item is, for some reason, faulty.

For a refund, please email us at hello@greathousefarmstores.co.uk stating your name and order number and let us know the reason for the refund.

A note on handmade products

Every one of our ceramic candle pots is handmade, here in the UK, by a skilled artisan. Every candle is hand poured on our Welsh farm. There will be slight differences from pot to pot and candle to candle, this is part of the beauty of the creative process.

Sustainability

We believe in treading lighting on this beautiful planet. All of our handmade ceramic candle pots are designed to be treasured for a lifetime, used again and again with our Pillar Refills.

Cleaning your empty candle pot

Gently coax out the last of the wax and the wick sustainer with a teaspoon then clean your candle pot thoroughly with hot water and soap. Don’t use boiling water or you risk cracking your pot.

Our Story

Great House Farm Stores was founded by sisters Abbie Price and Roanna Day. After the life-long city girls moved to the Welsh countryside, they discovered the life-giving, nourishing impact of living attuned to the seasons. Now, drawing on a heritage of scent practice from their mother, the sisters craft their peerless refillable candles around the kitchen table of their little Welsh farm. Each candle contains an Original Scent Recipe, a fragrance like no other, designed to change how you feel. 

Great House Farm Stores designed Home Scent Practice, the art of transforming every moment with scent, and together the sisters are dedicated to spreading the word about the power of scent.
